Blending Basics or Tips

Start with the liquid ingredient. As far as possible, chill the liquid ingredient and put it first in the container then mix in the frozen fruit or fruits and lastly the ice and/or the frozen yogurt and ice cream.

The Fruits should always be frozen. Frozen fruit will help you derive the required consistency. If not more, at least 30 minutes of freezing will make a good difference.

Be gradual with the speed of the Blender. Start at a low speed and increase it gradually till you get the required texture. To thicken the liquid, add more fruit or even ice would help.

Lets convert the Strawberries into a
Strawberry Daiquiri

Frozen Strawberries – 2 cups
Rum (not very strong) – ¼ cup
Plain Vanilla Ice cream – 2 cups
Fresh Lime Juice – 2 tsp
Blend the Rum and Juice. Add all the Strawberries and again give it one whisk. Now add the ice cream and again blend keeping in mind to increase the blending speed gradually every time. Empty this into 2 of your favorite cocktail glasses. Garnish with a halved Strawberry. If you have the skill and patience, you can also garnish with a Strawberry fan.

The Calorie conscious can avoid the ice cream.

A Non Alcoholic Banana Smoothie

2 Bananas
1-11/2 cup of yogurt (vanilla flavored preferably)
½ cup honey
¾ tsp extract of vanilla
½ to one cup of ice (as required)

Blend all the above mentioned ingredients to its desired texture. Bear in mind to start the blending on low speed and increase gradually.

In the same blend the alcohol lovers can add their alcohol after the blending is over. You may like to match the liqueur of the same flavor.
